In this article, I’ll explain why you don’t need 100,000 followers on Instagram to make 100,000 dollars in revenue so you can walk away, implement, and can see immediate results.
At BossBabe, the majority of our sales come from Instagram. In 2019, we’ve grown our account from 400K to 1.5M followers organically. By combining content strategy with growth hacking, we’ve converted these loyal fans into paying customers making multiple 7-figures in the last couple of years alone. But we didn’t always have this many followers while still making a lot of money.
So if you had to focus anywhere, where should you start? I always tell my clients to focus on niche clarity and meaningful social interaction.
It’s better to have 2,000 targeted followers than 50,000 random followers. Not only will you see higher engagement, you’ll also notice that these followers convert. That’s why it’s critical to get clear on who your ideal client is. Who is going to take your calls to action? Who is going to buy your product, download your app, or share your message? That’s your ideal client.
Get to know this person. Who is she following on Instagram? What is she already engaging with on a daily basis? Once you know this, you can find her and you can create the content she enjoys seeing. Create content that speaks directly to your ideal client and you’ll notice your engagement and buying power goes through the roof. People want to feel like you understand them – there’s so much generic content online, you’ll stand out if you niche down.
Meaningful Social Interaction
Once you know exactly who your ideal client is, you’ll want to start showing up for them. Meaningful social interaction — or “MSI” for short — is the collection of actions you take to connect with your audience. You can have conversations in the DMs, reply to comments, or tag someone on your images. This builds a bond between you and your followers.
Convert to sale
You’ve found people who are your ideal clients, they’re following you, and you’re having two-way conversations. Now what? You’re ready to sell. Remember that you don’t need 100,000 followers to make 100,000 dollars. What you need is a clear caption that taps into their pain points with a CTA.
You need to find a balance between providing valuable content and pushing towards conversions. If every post is a “salesy” post, your audience will lose interest. Creating valuable content that allows you to distinguish yourself as a thought leader or expert in the space will not only help you build an audience who trust you, they’ll have a reason to follow and are likely going to be wanting to buy from you without you even having to ask for the sale.
So now imagine completely selling out of your programs or products, and generating crazy hype around your brand, from simply posting on social media. Or imagine DMs filled with potential clients asking to buy from you and thanking you for doing what you do.
