Spring Cleaning
Around this time of year, everything is coming up new. Wonderfully aromatic hyacinth flowers in concert with the braggadocious flaming yellow display by forsythia bushes are everywhere you look. Out with the old and in with the new is the mantra echoing from every suburban garage as heaps of what-not get dumped at the curb. That in itself is Monday motivation.
There is no better time than right now to visualize what you want to be different. What do you want to change? Think about how your life is going to be altered by the time that you’re laying beach-side soaking up the sun and surf or going on a picnic for the 4th.
Today’s Tip: ‘VISUALIZE IT’
See it. Feel it. Visualize yourself the way that you want to be. With summer and the dreaded bikini season coming up fast, perhaps your goal is to lose a few pounds. Mine is! I am trying to picture myself sans muffin-top basking in the heat of the sunshine getting my tan on.
Sometimes, we need a little mental stimulation and inspiration to get us on target. And to keep us motivated after Monday and into next week. Then the week after, and so on, and so on …
#1 – Select a Photo
It doesn’t have to be a photo of yourself. Select one from a magazine or online or wherever you can find a picture that represents what you’re striving for. Weight loss is just one thing many people envision achieving by the summer time but don’t limit yourself. Maybe you see yourself laying under the stars, at peace, holding someone’s hand. Great! Find a photo.
#2 – Touch the Photo
Okay, I’ll be the first to admit that touching a photo sounds a little weird. Extra weird if it’s your screen saver on your mobile or laptop but trust me on this one.
Touch it.
Doing so helps make it real. If you’re aiming to change your life you’re going to need whatever tangible bits you can get your hands onto. Touch it for a few moments.
#3 – Imagine It With Your Eyes Closed
Every day, whether you do so at the start of your morning before or after you’re caffeinated or you do so at the end of the day when you’ve decided to wine down and chill, just do it. Look at the photo for a moment then close your eyes. Visualize your version of that photo. Hold onto that vision for as long as you can. Realistically, do so for at least a moment or two before you rush off to read your next Monday motivation column or whatever is next on your list of 3,007 things to do.
Who Motivates You?
Vishen Lakhiani is the perfect example for today’s Monday motivation column on visualizing what you want to change. Vishen founded Mind Valley back in 2002. He didn’t have any money when he started this multi-million dollar empire.
But, he had a vision. He could see himself empowering people to live extraordinary lives by helping them visualize what they wanted.
The program includes courses on everything from wealth to personal energy management.
And he shares his vision of living a healthy life so that he can be there when his children give birth to his grandchildren. It’s quite compelling.
This is a man that created the Awesomeness Fest so he has a few ideas worthy of a Monday motivation column!
Go, go, go! It’s Monday.
Before you know it, it will be Tuesday and you’ll be well on your way to a happy and productive week.
