Justin Bieber is back.
The 25-year-old singer dropped a surprise announcement on Christmas Eve. He told fans via social media that his new single, “Yummy,” would be available on Jan. 3, and he also dropped dates for his 2020 stadium tour.
Bieber posted a video to his YouTube channel titled, “#BIEBER2020.” The video depicts the singer walking around a deserted area while reflecting on his past mistakes. The sunset-scenery and slow-motion effects give the video a very serious vibe. There’s also a snippet of what seems to be his new single playing in the background.
“As humans we are imperfect,” Bieber said in the video. “My past and my mistakes- all the things that I’ve been through- I believe that I’m right where I’m supposed to be, and God has me right where he wants me.”
Halfway through the short video, a list of 45 tour dates flashed across the screen. The pop-star will begin his stadium tour in Seattle at CenturyLink Field on May 14, and he’ll end it in New Jersey at MetLife Stadium on Sept. 26. Bieber then announced that there would be a docu-series and a new album coming soon, however, he didn’t give an exact date.
“It’s the music that I’ve loved the most out of anything that I’ve done.” Bieber said at the very end of the video.
Where Has Bieber Been?
Bieber released his fourth album, “Purpose,” in Nov. 2015. Since then, he’s collaborated with various artists and released several hit singles. Puerto Rican singers Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee featured Bieber on “Despacito” in 2017. The song reached the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100. He was also featured on two of DJ Khaled’s singles- “I’m the One” in 2017 and “No Brainer” in 2018.
This past summer, Bieber and Ed Sheeran released the single “I Don’t Care” off of Sheeran’s album “No. 6 Collaborations Project.” He also teamed up with country duo Dan + Shay to create “10,000 Hours.” Both songs reached the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
So, while Bieber hasn’t really been taking a break from music, his fans are definitely ready to hear his new stuff. Most of them are so excited, they can’t help but type in all caps.
One fan tweeted: “WOKE UP CRYING BECAUSE JUSTIN BIEBER IS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. #Bieber2020 #BieberIsBackTODAY”
