The new Captain Marvel trailer has been released and we couldn’t be more excited.

Starring Brie Larson, and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel is the story of comic book persona Carol Danvers – who eventually assumes the mantle of the 7th Captain America (it’s a fluctuating superhero role that’s been filled by a few different characters – man, woman, and sometimes even Kree). Carol Danvers is mostly known for being Ms. Marvel in the comic book world, and joining the Avengers and the X-men as Ms. Marvel.

The Captain Marvel movie follows Danvers’ character as she goes from US military pilot to one of the world’s most popular superheroes.

Specifically, this follows her trek as she joins Starforce, an elite Kree military team. This is the event that eventually sets the stage for Captain Marvel to step in and save the universe after it’s destroyed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.

Because who doesn’t love an origins movie for the woman who eventually saves the universe??

The movie is set in the 90’s, the ultimate time for girl power. Captain Marvel struggles as a superhero, battling between her own ego and her powerful skills that can help people. Production said they hired Brie Larson for her wonderful ability to capture the human along with the superhero.

Earlier this month, Larson told Entertainment Weekly:

“That is something that is really exciting to me about this film: We did not cut corners on that stuff. Like, when it’s funny, it is funny, but also when there are deep emotional things happening, it’s real. So I was able to bring some of those same things that I’ve brought to full dramatic roles into this, which I’m really proud of because I think it will really set this film apart.”

We can’t wait to see it!
