Edmaven, an AI-Based Edtech Startup, has launched a crowdfunding campaign aiming to raise $60k to launch its edtech networking platform. The startup is the brainchild of the Center for Education Reform and investment platform Global Silicon Valley.

The Washington D.C-based startup will be led by Jeanne Allen and Michael Moe, who is the founder and CEO of the Center for Education Reform, and co-founder of GSV Asset Management, respectively.

The funding obtained from the Kickstarter campaign will be used by the startup to update the company’s website to add talent search, investor hub, and content library features, with donors receiving extended memberships.

Jeanne Allen referred to the startup’s mission by stating:

“Our mission is to boil the ocean; transform education, and ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to participate in the future. We want edmaven to be the go-to site for people with the ideas we need to accelerate education innovation.”

The platform aims to do so by using proprietary Artificial Intelligence technology to connect members to each other based on their goals and interests. This includes investors and ed-tech companies looking for funding opportunities.

Edmaven’s team is composed of “seasoned professionals with deep experience in education and technology”, including programmers, writers, and project managers to ensure the success of the platform.

The team expects to have the optimized site up and running by the end of the 4th quarter of 2021 but due to the complex and labor-intensive nature of AI, the launch could be delayed to 2022 if any delay occurs.

At this time, the campaign has raised $983 from its $60k targets, with a total of 13 backers having participated so far. The AI-Based Edtech Startup still has 44 days to reach its goal, which would allow it to fill some of the needs created by the COVID 19 pandemic’s effects on the education sector.
