It also revealed an official name for the new movie, End Game, which will hit theaters in May 2019.
Surprise, you got a trailer anyway. Disney has been teasing over the last couple of months about whether or not it would be releasing a trailer for the highly anticipated upcoming Avengers movie. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series after the mega-cliffhanger ending in Infinity War. The newer films are said to be wrapping up the older generation of Marvel superhero characters to make way for newer ones. Many of the original actors’ contracts with the series are up. This means that Marvel will have to write older characters out of the series to make way for new ones.
Avengers: End Game
Marvel is famous for telling a story using 72 different movies, but the next release from the comic book series tells the next step in the story following Infinity War. The trailer opens with Iron Man floating through space in a beat up ship, sending a message to Pepper Potts. “Part of the journey is the end,” he says, as the screen fades to black and begins the rest of the teaser. The trailer suggests that this is the end for Iron Man, though that much is obvious because Robert Downey Jr. has already revealed that he’s done with the franchise.
The trailer also includes a dialogue between Captain America and Black Widow. In the conversation the two discuss how Thanos fulfilled his word by wiping out half of the Earth’s population. During their conversation, though, Ant Man appears on the front door camera footage asking to be let inside. Fans will remember that the ending of Ant Man saw the character stuck in a micro-universe, so does this mean that the character has somehow found a way around Thanos?
Remembering Stan Lee
The release of the new Avengers trailer comes just weeks after the death of Stan Lee, the creator of the Marvel Universe. It was revealed recently that the comic book icon died of heart and respiratory failure at age 95. Lee pioneered the comic book industry with the creation of the Marvel universe back in the 1960’s. Since then, Marvel has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry. Disney bought the franchise for a mere $4 billion back in 2009. The corporation has since gone on to create 17 films and multiple theme parks, canonizing Marvel as one of, if not the, biggest comic franchises in history.
Marvel’s Avengers: End Game will hit theaters around the world beginning in April 2019. The US-release of the film is set for the first week of May, but it will be released worldwide by the end of that month. You can check out the new trailer for Avengers: End Game below.
