Dana White and His Misinformed Speech at the RNC is Getting A Lot of Laughs

Published on August 28, 2020

Dana White’s irrational speech at the Republican National Convention is providing a whole lot of laughs for rational voters. White, of course, is the President of the UFC and a notable supporter of President Donald Trump. White spoke at the last RNC as well. Below, learn just how silly the speech from Dana White got.

Dana White Doesn’t Fact-Check

This time, White said nobody could’ve predicted the current pandemic, except in October of last year, Democatric presidential nominee Joe Biden did. Like Trump, maybe White is not a fan of facts torching his beliefs. Last October, Biden tweeted:

We are not prepared for a pandemic. Trump has rolled back progress President Obama and I made to strengthen global health security. We need leadership that builds public trust, focuses on real threats, and mobilizes the world to stop outbreaks before they reach our shores.

White, however, believes Trump handled COVID-19 “head-on”:

“Let’s talk about COVID, and let’s be very honest about it. No one person and no one place could have anticipated the challenges that COVID would bring, but President Trump has faced all of these obstacles head on.”

Did Dana White forget Trump once called COVID-19 a “democratic hoax”? Did he also forget Trump said the virus would “go away”? According to polls, most Americans are unhappy with Trump’s handling of the coronavirus. White, on the other hand, thinks his pal has done a good job… despite the fact over 30 million people are out of work and the economy is in an awful state. The rich, like White, have only gotten richer, though.

The Hypocrisy of a Speech From Dana White

First off, having Dana White speak at the Republican National Convention reeks of hypocrisy. The President is always whining about keeping politics out of sports, and yet he brings in the president of a sports league to speak at his convention. White has been criticized in the past for his support of the president and his participation in the Republican National Conventional. White has said he doesn’t give a “shit” what people think of his speech, though, which sure does show he has an open mind…:

“Listen, this is America. Everybody has their own opinions and their own choices. I know that sometimes people go after you because of whatever, but everybody knows what I’m about. I don’t give a s—. The people that know me, know who I am and know what I’m about. Other than that, I [couldn’t] care less. There’s tons of guys that hate Trump, whether it’s celebrities or whatever, and I’m cool with all of them. We’re all cool.”

One Glaring Omission

Now, while Dana White’s speech wasn’t the worst of the convention, it’s still bottom of the barrel stuff and omits important facts. White praises White for helping to bring sports back during the pandemic. White, who spent a lot of time talking about himself and the UFC, doesn’t mention that teams are postponing games as a sign of protest over the violence and racism in a country led by Donald Trump. (Over the last four years, hate crimes have risen in Trump’s America.)

Trump Already Has Defunded The Police

During White’s speech, which has been mocked widely on social media and by political commentators, he protested against defunding the police.

“It blows my mind how quickly some of the leadership in this country has forgotten the critical role first responders play in our society. Police departments and other law enforcement, even some fire departments, have faced opposition from many in this country, but they are always the people who are asked to step up when things are at their worst and put themselves at risk. Come on, America — defunding these vital positions is not the answer.”

Trump and his followers are trying to scare some people into thinking Joe Biden wants to defund the police. He does not. Biden has said it repeatedly. Again, it’s another calculated omission from White’s silly speech. What else does White forget to mention? Trump himself has cut funding for the police. In Trump’s 2019 budget plan, he cut 50% of funding for the Cops Hiring Program. The program, which was started by Democratic President Bill Clinton, is for hiring local cops.
