The Crew came into this game with a lot of momentum- not only were they at home, but they’ve also won three of their last four which includes two away games, and one of which was a 2-0 victory over the Revolution.

New England, however, has dropped three of their last four games with three of those games being at home.

The Crew were able to break through with a 42’ goal off the head of Josh Williams eight yards out, into the far post, which was his first of the season, the ball was fed in on a free kick by Federico Higuain. This assist gives him joint ownership of the Crew all-time regular-season assist leader with Robert Warzycha at 61.

Following the win Josh thought the team had trouble getting started, although they were able to keep up the intensity stating the Crew had a “great performance, gutsy performance, gutsy win.”

This shutout (23) passes Crew great Steve Clark for third place on the Crew all-time regular-season shutout leaders only behind Jon Busch (25) and  William Hesmer(41).

The brotherhood and camaraderie that they bring is unmatched,” Steffan stated.

Steffan has only allowed one goal this season, and extended his scoreless streak to 444 minutes.
