Bristol Palin is joining the cast of Teen Mom OG next season, and already her paycheck is much higher than the other women on the show.
To be fair, Bristol already has a bit of fame and controversy that comes along with her name. The daughter of a former vice-presidential Republican candidate, Bristol discovered she was pregnant during the 2008 presidential election.
The show was on the lookout for a new star to add after original cast member, Farrah Abraham, refused to quit her new career as an adult star and was dropped by the network.
There’s no doubt fans will want to tune in and see what happened to the eldest Palin child. Mostly because we wonder if she’s anything like her mom, former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin, who’s kind of credited with sinking the McCain campaign.
Bristol Palin’s first child, Tripp, was born when she was 17. She was engaged to Tripp’s father for a short time after the child was born, but it apparently didn’t work out for the teens. Luckily, Bristol met Dakota Meyer soon after – a former marine and US medal of honor recipient. The couple has two daughters in addition to Tripp, named Atley and Sailor.
We’ll get to know all the kids on the next season.
Anyway, Bristol was offered $250,000 just for the first season, with options to join in for two more seasons. With each option, she would get a $50,000 raise. In three years, she could be making $350,000. This is a pretty great deal for a once-teen mom who became known for preaching abstinence to teens. However, none of the other women who have been on the show for years, are making this much.
Bristol Palin is joining the cast of Teen Mom, which isn’t her first foray into reality television. Palin was previously on Dancing with the Stars, and a discovery channel series on Sarah Palin’s Alaska, featuring her family.
Can’t wait to see what shenanigans Teen Mom OG has in store for us next Fall!
