Made Renovation is an e-commerce provider for bathroom renovations, it announced that it has raised $23 million in Series A funding, which it will use to expand its capabilities.

Investors such as Base10 Partners, Founders Fund and Felicis Venture Company participated in the funding round, and it was led by Insight Partners.

In July 2019, Made Renovation was launched, and it has seen rapid growth since it hit the markets. Compared to last year, Made Renovation’s sales have quadrupled to more than $50,000 a day.

Made Renovation’s first markets were in San Francisco and Los Angeles. The company just launched in Seattle and has bigger plans to expand across the country.

According to co-founder and CEO Roger Dickey, the current problem is that homeowners are afraid to renovate and find it difficult to find small project contractors, due to low profit margins, or problematic customers.

This leads to a situation where there is a lot of demand but very limited supply. Made Renovation is tapping into this demand, and expanding into new markets.

Made Renovation operates in a unique way. The customer will propose a project, and Made Renovation will offer a number of design options that fit the needs of the customer.

The client then chooses an option and the company can order materials. The final step is to proceed with the help of about 100 construction partners in the markets that Made Renovation works in.

The COVID19 pandemic has accelerated the company’s growth as people are spending more time at home. Small things become necessary to fix, and Made Renovation makes it simple to do.

Before founding Made Renovation, Dickey worked in the gaming space on a project called Dope Wars, which was later acquired by Zynga. While at Zynga, Dickey was the creator and chief architect of one of the most popular social networking games – Mafia Wars.

Another co-founder, Sagar Shah, previously was educated at UC Berkeley. Sagar has worked at NASA and also co-founded an e-learning platform.
