Rent Barbie’s Malibu Dreamhouse on Airbnb

Published on October 22, 2019

Barbie is a woman of many talents. She has had several careers as a pilot, nurse, polar marine biologist, and most recently a judge. Starting October 23, she can add Airbnb host to her resume. Airbnb has teamed up with Mattel Barbie’s Dreamhouse to life. To celebrate Barbie’s 60th anniversary, a party of four can book the Malibu mansion for $60 a night.

The House is Truly a Dream

Guests will have private access to the entire three-floor mansion, which is decked out entirely in pink decor. The real-life Barbie Dreamhouse features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large pool with a slide, a fully-equipped kitchen, a cinema room, private office, and even a walk-in closet filled with outfits from Barbie’s many careers over the years — including bright dresses, a neon pink motorcycle helmet, and her spacesuit.

“My pool is the perfect place to cool off from the California sun,” Barbie writes in her listing. “Whether you’re enjoying an outdoor meal, watching a movie in my personal cinema, or making s’mores under the stars, the best part is just being together.”

Spending two nights in the Malibu Dreamhouse with your besties isn’t the only perk of this nostalgia-soaked Airbnb experience. Guests will be treated to a glam session with celebrity hairstylist and entrepreneur Jen Atkins, a cooking class in Barbie’s kitchen with renowned local chef Gina Clarke-Helm, and a fencing lesson from Olympian Ibtihaj Muhammad.

Barbie on a Mission

On Barbie’s Airbnb profile page, she promotes herself as an empowered woman and entrepreneur, citing the 200-plus careers she’s held across various iterations in her six-decade history. “As a homeowner and entrepreneur, I am excited to be hosting my Dreamhouse for the first time on Airbnb,” Barbie writes in her listing. “I’ve traveled all over the world, but the Dreamhouse has always been my favorite place to call home. It’s full of inspiration, like pictures of the 200+ careers I’ve had and the role models in my life, so I hope it inspires you to remember that you can be anything!”

Unfortunately for guests, Barbie herself will be out of town, but the villa brings to life the nostalgic fun of the Dreamhouse toys of the 90s, with a host of multi-purpose areas to make the most of your stay. Through this partnership, Airbnb is donating to the Barbie Dream Gap Project GoFundMe initiative to help girls reach their full potential. Booking opens on Wednesday at 11 a.m. PT.
