’70s Fashion is Back in The Latest Style Renaissance

Published on January 30, 2020

In 2019, the ’90s had their style revival, but in 2020 it’s ’70s fashion that’s getting its time to shine.

Fashion is cyclical, and all except the truly heinous looks, and even sometimes those, eventually come back in vogue. In the last few years, it was the ’90s looks that returned to runways and closets alike. Chokers, denim jackets, combat boots, crop tops, scrunchies, and hoop earrings all came back into trendy prominence.

This year, however, is the dawn of a new decade, and with it a new decade of fashion revived. Get ready for knee-high boots, flowy boho looks, wide-leg pants, and jumpsuits. Think Stevie Nicks and you’ll do just fine.

A ’70s fashion staple, the flowy tiered skirt, made its way down various runways in spring/summer 2020 fashion week shows. The skirt can be seen in mini, midi, and maxi styles, and according to Elle magazine, it’s a 2020 fashion must-have.

“You need one in your closet this year. Pair it with a cute bikini top after a long day on the beach or give the silhouette an evening-appropriate twist by rocking it with a black turtleneck and stiletto boots.”

It’s not just clothing experiencing a ’70s throwback. When it comes to hair, shaggy bangs, natural curls, and length are all styles from the ’70s that we can expect to see people rocking in 2020.

Selena Gomez was seen rocking both volumized disco curls and fringe while filming a music video for her album Rare.

I can’t wait to cut my hair with some nice fringey curtain bangs, put on a long tiered hippy skirt and my knee-high boots and channel my inner ’70s queen.
